40-4-40 Anniversary Trip

(40 Days for 40 Years)
By 2005, Georgia and I were approaching a massive milestone: our 40th wedding anniversary. To celebrate, I came up with a concept that felt fitting for the occasion—40 days abroad for 40 years of marriage. We called it "40-4-40."
Executing a 40-day European deployment takes serious logistics, and Georgia was the mastermind behind it all. While I was traveling the country on business trips, she spent months doing the "recon" and planning the entire itinerary.
Her research extended right down to our gear. Knowing we would be navigating ferries, trains, and walking tours, she figured out exactly what type of clothing we needed for maximum mobility. We invested in high-quality, wash-and-wear clothes that we could wash in the hotel sink at night and wear fresh the next day.
Thanks to her planning, we tackled a 40-day international journey with just one single roll-on suitcase each. That strategic packing made the travel incredibly easy, and it proved that teamwork is the ultimate travel hack.
