We sold our house in Terra Linda, had the furniture loaded onto the moving van, packed the kids into the station wagon, and drove up to Bellevue, Washington, where we checked into a Holiday Inn. The van was scheduled to arrive in ten days, which meant the clock was ticking—we had to find a house, and fast.
One of my business friends recommended a realtor, and the frantic search began. We eventually found the house in the photo and really liked it, especially the fact that it was located on a cul-de-sac. That gave us great peace of mind, knowing the kids would be a bit safer playing outside. We bought it and officially moved in just before the moving van pulled up.
One day, Georgia was out front with the kids when a neighbor named Sandy Skoog walked up and introduced herself. She had two sons, Jason and John, tagging along, which meant Scott and Michele had two instant playmates. Over the next year, our two families became great friends.
Then, they came over one evening and flat-out told us, "You are going to build a house in a place called South Cove, a brand-new community in Issaquah, Washington." We looked at them and asked, "What? You mean us?" They said yes.
The very next day, we all went out to look at South Cove and absolutely fell in love with it, even though we would be only the sixth house built in an otherwise barren community. We built the house, sold our house, moved, and life was good.
What’s next? Just wait, there's much more.
