The inspiration began with a deeply personal struggle: our friends had a baby who desperately needed a heart transplant. Back then, infant transplants were incredibly rare. The sheer emotional devastation of losing a child, combined with a lack of public understanding about how such a tragic loss could offer "A New Beginning" to others, made the topic very difficult to discuss. Launching an awareness project around such a heavy reality was daunting, but we knew in our hearts it had to be done. Scott and I took the first step by writing a story to help explain child organ donation. From there, Scott named our new non-profit CHERUBS (Children, Helpers, Educating, Reassuring, Uniting By Sharing). That initial story eventually found a new rhythm; my brother Lenny, a talented musician, took the words, refined them, and transformed them into a beautiful song called “The Gift of Life.”
