Growing up all I ever wanted to do when I grew up was to be an actress. I wrote stories and scenes in my head and spent hours in my room acting it all out. But in the real world I was so shy to do that in front of people…so instead I worked behind the scenes in high school setting up sets and such… but still dreaming of the day I could be on stage and on the big screen.
I went from knowing nothing about fashion or makeup to being thrust into the international world of modeling at 19 years of age in 1975…so far away from home all alone in Paris and so home sick…back then you wrote letters and were able to call home once a month because of cost…nowadays there is FaceTime…all day everyday if you want…God how I would have loved that….and the the way you went on interviews…you brought your 11x12 leather portfolio with you to you your interview plus a 5x7 colored card with some pictures and your stats as a business card to leave with client…they were called composites….now it is all done digitally…I can’t even wrap my brain around it!!!

But modeling did lead me to the small screen, the big screen and the stage….I have done over 100 commercials, several tv shows, a couple movies and a few plays…one where I actually won an award for. I loved the work but unfortunately the acting world is a whole other kind of reality…it’s not how talented you are but more of who you know and networking and going to parties to be seen. .I was a young mother at 24 and had no desire to network. Being a mother was another desire growing up and I took it seriously so as I worked and struggled at times, when I got pregnant with my second child I decided family was more important than my work. We moved to Seattle area to be close to my family and raise my boys and I became a stay at home mom. I have missed the creative process of acting but have no regrets letting it go.
Write a story about this commercial. I recovered the file as best as I can.
The Big "C"
We have been very fortunate in our family to have good health. The first time we had cancer in our family was when my mom got breast cancer in 1989. She had a mastectomy, opted not to have treatment, and stayed cancer-free until her early 90s. Then Robin got a different type of breast cancer and had a mastectomy and chemotherapy.
Robin has been cancer-free for over 20 years. Thank you, Lord!
BTW, I love her hair like this, too bad she doesn't.
